Offer Image
Make a visit to a lighted cave powered by amazing glowworms and then travel to another world as it feels like you were dropped into the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit Trilogies movies as you explore the Hobbiton movie set in the Shire.

Waitomo Glow Worm Caves and Hobbiton

The excitement of your adventure begins with a comfortable, scenic drive through the bucolic countryside to the Waitomo Glowworm Caves on this small and exclusive tour.

This most popular attraction on the North Island of New Zealand is home to thousands of Arachnocampa Luminosa, a glowworm that is unique to the country. Enter the caves and gaze in amazement at the starry wonderland over your head as your guide shares the cave's history and geology. This is Mother Nature's natural wonder on display, glide silently through the starry wonderland of the grotto on the Waitomo River and experience this galaxy of tiny living lights.

Next you will break for a light snack before continuing the Hobbiton movie set.

Originally a 1,250-acre sheep farm, the Alexander farm was chosen for the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit Trilogies movies following an aerial search and discovery of a land strikingly similar to the Shire as described in JRR Tolkien's novels. You'll quickly understand why this was the perfect location as you enjoy a 2-hour guided tour around the Middle Earth-style set complete with a complimentary drink at the Green Dragon.

This full-day tour is a must-do for Hobbit fans and nature lovers alike, reserve your spot today as the maximum amount of guests that can book is 8.
