Offer Image
Explore highlights and secrets of West Maui on this private Kahului tour. This sunny northwest coast was once the capitol of the Hawaiian Kingdom and a retreat for their royalty. Modern-day West Maui is now home to a multitude of activities, shopping and astounding resorts that all benefit from some of the most amazing sunsets in the world.

Private Tropics of Maui and Rainforest Valley

This private and exclusive experience begins as you meet your friendly local guide and begin the drive through the historical plantation town of Wailuku. Pass an ancient volcano that towers over Iao Valley, a spectacular rainforest valley home to the famous Iao needle. Due to many years of erosion and rainfall, Iao Valley has become a stunning lush green valley that hosts many different species of flora and fauna. Learn about the history of this grand valley and the Hawaiians that first settled here while enjoying the botanical garden. You will also learn more about one of the bitterest battles ever fought on Hawaiian soil while exploring this beautiful valley.

Next, discover easy walking paths leading through lush tropical plants at the Maui Tropical Plantation. Enjoy the artfully displayed antique equipment from the old sugar milling days on display. The local gift shop has island-made vodka, coconut candy and many other fun items to pick up as great souvenirs. There is a tram ride available at Maui Tropical Plantation, however, it is not included on this tour.

After you've finished exploring Maui Tropical Plantation, your journey will lead you up a panoramic West Maui slope to enjoy stunning views of the central valley from King Kamehameha lookout. Hear about how the grounds hold a historical structure that is connected to the famous Frank Lloyd Wright and Marilyn Monroe.

Explore the south shore, where beautiful Maui beaches and moonscape lava fields from Maui's 1790 Kilauea volcanic eruption are local attractions. Haleakala, a massive shield volcano that is also known as the East Maui Volcano, forms more than 75% of the Hawaiian Island of Maui. The tallest peak of Haleakala, at 10,023 feet, is named Pu'u Ula'ula.

Enjoy a pleasant drive back to the North shore with a stop at a sea cliff lookout, providing views over the scenic and beautiful Ho'okipa Beach. Take in the sweeping views of the ocean as you watch the waves crash to shore and the surfers honing their skills. Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles can usually be seen sunbathing directly on the beach and you may get the wonderful opportunity to capture some fantastic pictures of them. A short walk will lead you down to the water's edge.

Your private tour will end with a relaxing drive back to the port area and your ship.

Please Note: Vehicles available for this tour accommodate groups of up to 6 guests maximum. Groups with more than 6 guests will need to book multiple vehicles. Please take this information into consideration when booking.
