Interested in ancient history? Make a stop at the excavation site of the Teatro Romano, an amphitheater that dates back to the third century. While there, explore the nearby Alcazaba, a fortification built by the Moors in the 11th century. You're sure to enjoy the museum and gardens. The Alcazaba connects to Castillo de Gibralfaro, high atop Mount Gibralfaro. From there you can see dramatic views of the city and the Mediterranean Sea.

Enjoy audio tours of Malaga Cathedral, a Renaissance church located near Alcazaba that features hand-carved choir stalls, beautiful artwork, and a grandiose altar. Just south is Malaga Beach. La Concepcion - Jardin Botanico-Historico dates back to the 19th century and features Roman statues and many exotic flowers, while Mercado de las Flores is a popular flower market. You can also visit the monuments and tombs of Cementerio Ingles, the first protestant cemetery in Spain.

Please Note: The Avenida de Andalucia stop is currently suspended until further notice. There are 2 bus routes that follow the same, seasonal schedule. The Red Route runs every 40 minutes and it takes approximately 80 minutes to complete without getting off. The Green Route runs every 80 minutes and takes approximately 30 minutes to complete; however, please bear in mind that times are always subject to change. During the winter months (December through February), the Red and Green routes run every 20 minutes. The hop on hop off Malaga tours are narrated in English, Spanish, German, Italian, French, Portuguese, Dutch, and Russian. First and last tour times will be detailed in your electronic ticket.

Comfortable lightweight summer clothing and walking shoes is suitable for most of the year, but light sweaters may be needed for the winter months in the evenings. Good quality sunglasses are advised, and photo-chromatic lenses for those who wear spectacles.
